Membership Categories and Dues
US Academic Institution Dues
Dues for US academic institutions are based on the institution's 2000 Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
Annual dues for 2007 through 2011 are as follows:

| Doctoral Research Extensive | $15,000 |
| Doctoral Research Intensive | $9,000 |
| Master's Comprehensive I and II | $6,500 |
| BA Universities | $2,000 |

| Associate/Community Colleges | $1,600 |

Non-Academic and Non-US-Based Academic Institution Dues
Dues for nonprofit, government, commercial and non-US-based academic institutions are generally based upon the institution's size and use of data resources. There are four levels of Associate membership:

ICPSR Federations
Some institutions find it beneficial to join with others in a federation membership. Members of ICPSR federations will receive discounts off of the above dues of 10 percent per institution for federations with 2-5 members and 20 percent per institution for federations with 6 or more members.
